G D
I took this walk to ease my mind
Am
To find out what's gnawing at me
C G
Wouldn't think, to look at me,
Am
that I've spent a lot of time in education
C G
It all seems so long ago
Am
I'm a thinker, not a talker
C
I've no-one to talk to, anyway
G F
I can't see the road
C G
for the rain in my eyes
F C G
Ahhh-huh, h...uh, huh
G D
I live above the grocers store,
Am
owned by an Austrian
C G
He often calls me down to eat
Am
And he jokes about his broken English,
C G
tries to be a friend to me
Am
But for all my years of reading conversation,
C
I stand without a word to say
G F
I can't see the bridge
C G
for the rain in my eyes
F C G
Ahhh-huh, h...uh, huh
G A E
And the world is full of life
Bm
Full of folk who don't know me
D A
And they walk in twos or threes or more
Bm
While the light that shines above the grocer's store
D A
investigates my face so rudely
Bm
And my essays lying scattered on the floor
D A
Fulfill their needs just by being there
A G
And my hands shake, my head hurts,
D A
my voice sticks inside my throat
A G
I'm invisible and dumb,
D A
no-one will recall me
A G
And I can't see the water
D F G A
through the tears in my ey-y-yes

I like this song very, partly because it shows what Bowie
was feeling like at times when he was about 22-24.
And partly, because you really hear what Bowie's
voice really is: a bass, well, quite low, anyway...
Done:
- Found the chords for the greater part.
All by just listening and playing along.
- On accoustic guitar, almost all chords are open chords.
If not possible, then as close to it anyway for a more "full" sound.
The longer strings due to open chords give a more full sound.
To do:
- Haven't found out what chords exactly they play in the last.
They're joking around with some chords until the ultimately have
an A-chord at the end while Bowie sings the last line of the lyric :)
Possible it's just : F-G-A
